Goals: • Prevalence and incidence of diabetes and pre-diabetes in the first-degree relatives of diabetic patients in Isfahan • Significant risk factors for the diabetes and pre-diabetes

Study population: First-degree relatives of type II diabetic patients registered in Isfahan Endocrine and Metabolism Research Center

 Sampling method and sample size: • Convenience sampling (non-probability) • Sample size: 3438 participants for the first phase.

Data Collection: • Enrolling 35-55 years old relatives of type 2 diabetes • Examination; Interview and laboratory measurements • Demographic characteristics, anthropometric and clinical variables; glucose and lipid profiles; Nutritional status and physical activity; Smoking • OGTT; • Healthy life style training • Repeat OGTT every 3 years for normal glucose tolerance, every year for prediabetic participants and refer to diabetic clinic for diabetic patients • Repeat baseline measurements in each follow up visit

Follow up Methods:According to the protocol, • Every 3 years for normal participants • Annually measurements for prediabetic participants • Refer of diabetic people to diabetes clinics

Main Exposures:• Demographic, Anthropometric and Clinical and laboratory measurements, general health and medical history, drug use

Outcomes:• Demographic, Anthropometric and Clinical and laboratory measurements, general health and medical history, drug use
